RONALD CARL OLSEN November 6, 1940 - August 17, 2011 Ronald Carl Olsen, 70, second son of Harvey Henry and Lucille Joy Olsen of Pasco, Washington, passed away at Seattle VA Hospital August 17, 2011. Born in Pasco, Ronald grew up on the family farm, excelled in school (graduating 3rd in class - PHS 1959), church, and 4-H. He graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from WSU Pullman. Drafted as a DVM by the US Army, he served one tour as a community action adviser in Vietnam. On discharge, Ronald established a large-animal veterinary practice in Smithers, British Columbia. An opportunity to teach brought him back to WSU College of Veterinary Medicine to share his knowledge and practical experience with students. He returned to private practice in Moses Lake, but had his active career abruptly ended by a bull. On recovery, he and Jo Parker toured North America in a motorhome visiting family and friends. Ronald was predeceased by: sister, Sara; father, Harvey; and brother, Fred. He is survived by: mother, Lucille; brothers - Lawrence, Richard, Charles; former wives - Jan Coles and Chris Olsen; children - Ronald, Randy, Karl, Mariah, and Justin; grandsons - Kitar and Thomas; and his obedient dog, Athena. The family extends a special thank you to Jo Parker for her care and dedication. Friends are invited to the Riverview Methodist Church in Pasco on Saturday, September 17, 2011 for a Celebration of Life remembrance at 4:00 P.M.
